Maryland Homeowner Tax Credit Information

  • by

Remington Residents:

Do you own your home and are your property taxes too high?
You may be eligible for a property tax relief!

The State of Maryland’s Homeowner Property Tax Credit program can cut the property
taxes for income eligible owners and save you hundreds of dollars every year.

Qualified homeowners who file the attached form before May 1st will receive a
deduction directly on their tax bill or will get a credit certificate to reduce the amount
due when you pay your property tax. To claim the credit the combined income for all
members of your household must be below $60,000.

To claim your credit please complete this form and send it and the attachments to
Department of Assessments and Taxation, Homeowner’s Tax Credit Program, 301 W.
Preston Street, 9th Floor, Room 900 Baltimore, MD 21201 before May 1st.

To be eligible to receive the tax credit you must meet these requirements:

• You must own or have a legal interest in the property.

• The house must be where you live.

• Excluding the value of the property and retirement savings you cannot have more than $200,000 in the bank.

• Your household income cannot be more than $60,000.

If you need assistance filling out the Property Tax Credit Form, my office working with
Episcopal Housing Corporation and the Church of the Guardian Angel will sponsor
workshops to help you complete the application.
