Trail Blazing and Fun Times this Saturday!

From Roy Skeen:

Greetings Friends and Family,

As many of you know, I have been working with high school boys this summer from Remington. We have been doing most of our work on the trails of lower Stony Run by the stream and in the river itself.

This Saturday the young men are organizing a clean-up day, where they will each run a work station and get a chance to lead other community members. We will be doing trail maintenance (widening and blazing new trails), invasive species removal, channel clearing, trash pick-up, and building a seating area from old logs.

The work/fun will run from 9-10:30 ish and at 11 o’clock there will be a rock skipping contest and a three-leg, task-oriented relay race, with fresh peaches to the victors.

The guys came up with all the planning for this and are excited. So please tell anyone who you think might be interested to come on down and have a good time by the 2nd cleanest stream in Baltimore City!

Meet off of Wyman Park Drive between the bridge over Stony Run and the new straw covered ball fields. If driving, it is best to park at the end of Huntingdon Avenue. and walk through the park or in the Steif Silver/Boy Scout Parking lot off of Keswick and walk down Wyman Park Drive. We will be under the bridge at Wyman Park.

Any tools that you want to bring (loppers, metal rakes, maddoxes, chain saws, pointed shovels, gloves) are all welcome but please mark your tools. We will have many tools on site. Please email me with any questions.

To the great outdoors,

Roy
