GRIA, along with the Neighborhood Design Center, is holding a town hall meeting at Kromer Hall to discuss the Remington Community Plan.
A lot of you remember the art show, Remington Stories, that took place in May. That show was the first phase of a process that will last all summer and into the fall – a process that will hopefully result in a document that details what people want (and don’t want) for our neighborhood. On Saturday, there will be small group discussions facilitated by members from the Neighborhood Design Center (NDC). The NDC has taken our proposal for a community plan and has helped us draft a strategy for getting it completed. We’ve been meeting as a small group for months and now is the time to get more people into the mix. The art show was the first attempt to get people involved, and it was a huge success; in fact, you may be getting this email precisely because you attended Remington Stories and signed up for the mailing list (thank you!).
The event on Saturday will begin the more detailed planning phase of the process. The discussions this Saturday will last from 1 – 4 pm, and there will be light snacks provided. We will discuss topics such as safety, sanitation, traffic, and others. Please, please, please consider attending, if only for an hour or two. We really need other people from the neighborhood to get involved in this process so that it doesn’t become a few people sitting in a room trying to guess what the neighborhood wants/needs. Please show up on Saturday with an open mind and all the ideas you have for the neighborhood. Also, invite others – the more the merrier!
The flier for the event is attached. We’ve been canvassing the neighborhood pretty hard for the past week or so, trying to let as many people know as we can. GRIA is only as strong as the people in it! Please try to attend this meeting on Saturday if you can.
