1. GRIA General Meeting

GRIA’s next General Meeting will by Monday, October 18 at 7:00 PM at Kromer Hall, W. 27th and Huntingdon.  The meeting is on the second floor in the Gymnasium.

As part of our membership drive, we encourage everyone to bring a new guest to GRIA this Monday. Whether you bring someone new to the area or a long-time friend or neighbor who just hasn’t made it to a meeting yet, bring a buddy to receive a special surprise!

2. Pro Bono Day Fall 2010

The Bar Association of Baltimore City (BABC), in partnership with Maryland Legal Aid, Legal Services for the Elderly, the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, and the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, is hosting its third Pro Bono Day onSaturday, October 30, from 10 am to 2 pm at Maryland Legal Aid’s downtown Baltimore office, 500 East Lexington Street.

Participants can discuss their legal issues one-on-one with volunteer lawyers in a variety of areas, including landlord-tenant, government benefits, veterans issues, bankruptcy and consumer debt, wills, advance directives and elder law, foreclosure prevention, and divorce/custody/child support.

The event is free and open to the public.  While registration is not required, it is strongly encouraged.

3. Mayors Clean Up

On October 23, GRIA will be participating in the Mayor’s Fall Clean Up. More information including locations will be available at the October 18 GRIA meeting.

4. Hauntingdon

Join your neighbors for the 2010 Hauntingdon Avenue Halloween Block Party and celebrate Halloween in a safe and fun environment. On October 31 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, come to the 2900 block of Huntingdon Avenue and enjoy a puppet show porch brought to you by the Black Cherry Puppet Theatre, walking street puppets, Dan the Hoola Guy, performances by Paco Fish and Lennon La Ricci plus participate in games and trick-or-treating on porches decorated with artwork and decorations made by Remington youth as part of the Porch Art weekly workshops.
